Nestled in the heart of Sendai's vibrant Aoba Ward, Darestore Coffee & Eatery is more than just a café—it's a delightful experience that captures the essence of both comfort and culinary creativity. The minimalist aesthetic welcomes you like an old friend, providing a chic yet cozy atmosphere that’s perfect for leisurely afternoons or casual meetings.

As you step inside, you're greeted with open spaces that thrive in natural light and a warm ambiance, making it the ideal locale for relaxation. The café is designed to foster connection—whether you’re catching up with friends or enjoying a moment of solitude with a book. Customers rave about the friendly staff, who create connections that make each visit feel special.

The menu at Darestore shines a spotlight on an impressive array of drinks, while the food offerings are beautifully curated with a focus on sweetness and simplicity. Customers have been especially taken with the creamy cheesecake that “literally melts in your mouth,” according to one delighted guest. If you have a sweet tooth, the banana bread topped with ice cream and Nutella (¥950) is a must-try, along with the Zao cream cheese cheesecake (¥660)—both whispering promises of indulgent bliss.

With reviews echoing sentiments of satisfaction, you're likely to find your perfect cup here, with many claiming it serves the “best cappuccino” they’ve ever tasted. Perhaps you’ll find inspiration in the cozy ambiance that has reminded some travelers of Australia, thanks to the friendly conversations and helpful recommendations from the owners themselves.

While the café excels in their delicious treats and welcoming atmosphere, consider their limited offerings for electrical plugs if you’re looking for a working environment. However, the charming vibe, combined with a late closing time of 9 PM, invites you to linger just a little longer—an option not commonly found among other establishments that close their doors by 5 PM.

So, if you’re in the Sendai area, make sure to carve out some time to visit Darestore Coffee & Eatery. This café is a hidden gem where every bite and sip is crafted to perfection, embodying a passion for quality and service that will surely leave a lasting impression. Grab your favorite drink, sit back, and let the hushed buzz of conversation and the aroma of freshly brewed coffee create a memorable experience just for you.

I visited this store’s first location and was very impressed. Upon walking in Sendai, I realized that a second location opened up. The welcome ambience/aesthetic of the store is consistent with the brand identity. The selection of drinks is immense, but coupled with the minimalistic approach of the food & sweets menu, you’ll be able to enjoy your selection for sure. Open space location, not crowded, good music and friendly staff. I’d highly recommend the lunch plate (11:00-14:30) that range between 1,070円 ~ 1,320円that includes two small sides with the main. If you enjoy coffee, the selection is great here, too!

Latte was great, cheesecake literally melts in your mouth. Could have made the price better by creating a dessert & coffee combo deal. Cafe is open till 9 pm, which is nice considering other cafes usually open till 5 pm. From what I have seen, there is only one spot of electric plug/ outlet for charging.

This place is a gem. Friendly staff, cozy atmosphere, and amazing coffee and food. Still the best cappuccino we’ve ever had. We miss visiting!

This cafe is an incredible find! The food mixes sweet and savoury with a perfect balance. The atmosphere felt very familiar as it brought a little bit of Australia back to Japan. The owners are incredibly friendly and really cool people! They spent so much time chatting with us and providing us with recommendations that we even bought a coffee filter because of this cafe! We came back 3 days in a row. Most delicious filter coffee, we are hooked! You've got friends in Australia if you ever come back! From Jack and Sarah

Very comfortable spot for breakfast/lunch. Staff are laidback and friendly. The presence of smashed avocado and magic on the menu suggest a Melbourne influence? There’s another branch of this cafe 100m down the street, on the third floor of an older building. That outlet doesn’t serve meals or espresso (hand drip and aeropress only). Judging by the reviews, I think some people may have got the two branches confused.

The scent of my drip coffee was so nice! I liked how the clear cup helps you see the color of the coffee too. For lunch, I got a croissant sandwich that I ate from the top down. I liked the open kitchen concept here where you could see the dough poured out as well as the coffee dripping. The banana bread seemed popular so I ordered that to go as well. I hope to come back and buy some of their single bag drip coffee.

The barista set (espresso + cappuccino + pour over) was a delight - one of the best coffee experiences I've had in years. Beautifully clear pour over, well balanced espresso and a cappuccino that felt weightless. Each showcased different notes of the coffee in a really pleasing fashion. While I was here they had a variety of bean options from various regions and processing styles, including an anaerobic decaf. The breakfast food options are very good too. The staff were very welcoming and very kind despite my poor (non-existent) Japanese. I enjoyed it so much I came here twice in my two days in Sendai.
